next monday emrie and katy tramp to southeast asia. beau heads toward the middle east. lindsey and phil set out for afric-asia. kristi busts a move to south america. dan and kenny head off to far east asia...and i leave for africa.

this is a strange time. change is on the horizon. i'm excited, nervous, sad, expectant, and HUNGRY. some of us have been fasting while we wait and pray for financial provision. i ate my last meal on wednesday. with a week to go, our school is still looking for about $30,000. please continue to pray for us. pray that we will see the hand of God working in our time of need. pray that our outreach preparation will be constructive and fruitful. pray for safety in travel. pray that God will prepare the way for our teams in these remote places. and pray that God will bless the lives of those who are supporting us.

in one week i'm heading off to africa for almost three months! my team consists of 10 people, including myself. 7 girls and three guys. 4 americans, 3 canadians, 1 brit, 1 american/korean, and 1 koriwi (short for korean-kiwi). here's a little break down of where we're going, and what we'll be doing:

south africa- we arrive in johannesburg next week, and will be working with a relief organization called Refilwe. (http://www.refilwe.org/) we will be sleeping in tents (!) and mainly helping with manual labor on the base.

kenya- after flying into nairobi, we're heading to the ywam base nearby to work and stay. our goal is to relieve the full-time staff of their duties for awhile, and hopefully visit some schools in the area to hang with and minister to the kids!

uganda- this is going to be intense. we are taking a bus from nairobi to kampala. an african bus. for 20 hours. on dirt or non-existent roads. yikes. and THEN, we'll be heading by boat out to an island on lake victoria. we'll be staying (probably in mud huts) near an orphanage, and going on day-trips to surrounding islands to visit remote tribes. we'll be hosting revivals and tent-meetings where we will be expected to preach and lead worship! word on the street is that we'll be eating whole, boiled fish during most of our time there. prayers please.

morocco- from uganda we're flying through cairo to casablanca. we'll be staying with more full-time missionaries, assisting them in ministry. morocco is a closed nation where Christian missionaries are not welcome. those seeking to serve God's kingdom by sharing the gospel have to enter the country with alternate job descriptions and cover businesses. the goal is to blend in and avoid deportation by the moroccan government. the culture in morocco is very similar to that of the middle east, so the girls in our group will be wearing traditional head wraps and tunics! it should be an interesting transition from uganda to morocco, and then on to...

ISRAEL- where we'll be having a HUGE reunion with everyone from our dts! we'll be touring the holy land for a few weeks and then graduating on the mount of olives on august 13th...YES.
