as i sit down to summarize what's been going on with me lately, i come to the realization that so much happens here every day that, quite frankly, it's impossible to relay all of my experiences, thoughts, feelings, ideas and dreams.
so i will settle with telling you about a few that come to mind during this dining room typing session...
last week the leaders announced the outreach options to the entire school. (which countries, leaders going on each trip, etc.) they are as follows:
-southeast asia: bali, taiwan, cambodia, thailand
-south america: chili, argentina, peru, brazil
-africa: south africa, kenya, uganda, morocco
-southeast asia/africa: indonesia, northern india, south africa, uganda
-middle east: india, turkey, yemen, egypt
-far east asia: taiwan, china, mongolia, philippines
uhhh...AMAZING, right? any one of the trips would be an untouchable experience, but we were asked to think and pray about our top 3 choices. from the beginning, i've felt called to africa. in the past few weeks i've felt a heaviness for the people of southeast asia and india. this was unexpected, but when i saw the split option offering a chance to serve in all of those areas, i was floored. i pretty much knew right away which three i would write on my piece of paper:
1. southeast asia/africa
2. africa
3. southeast asia
the leaders are planning and praying, so we should be finding out our teams by the beginning of next week. this is definitely something you can be praying for too! i am anxious/nervous about the outcome, but i am praying for God's sovereign will and his peace to wash over me. i know wherever he sends me will be life-changing!
on another note, tonight we watched some "invisible children" updates. invisible children is a group dedicated to the plight of child soldiers in uganda. (if you don't know what invisible children is, CHECK IT OUT. it is worth learning about, and will touch you in inexplicable ways...www.invisiblechildren.com) i have seen some of their other documentaries, and have followed the organization's work over the years, but for some reason it was different this time. the faces of those victimized children always grip me, but i think my current position in life allowed their story to affect me in new ways.
God has recently brought me to a new place. i am poised to go wherever he leads, at the drop of a hat. i felt hope tonight. hope that i can actually do something. that God can use me...that i WANT him to use me! i no longer have an agenda. my own "plan" for life has gone out the window. God has given me the freedom to serve him, and it is such an exhilarating place to be! i don't know exactly where Christ will take me, but i know that he has a purpose for me, and in this i am finding joy i never knew i could have.
